Grebe’s Shopping Guide

Grebe’s: An Informed Shopper’s Guide

Why You Should Visit

  • Exceptional Parts Expertise (for some items): I needed a clutch for my Cub Cadet mower, and while finding the right part proved challenging, the staff persevered and helped me get exactly what I needed. They clearly have a deep understanding of various mower brands and models.
  • Competitive Appliance Pricing: I needed a new stove urgently, and Grebe’s not only delivered and installed it within two days but also offered a lower full price than big-box stores like Menards and Home Depot.
  • Extensive Selection & High-End Options: You’ll find a treasure trove of items, from appliances and kitchenware to snowblowers. The selection includes quality, high-end kitchen supplies and cookware, with knowledgeable staff to guide your choices.
  • Cooking Classes & Demonstrations: The store offers cooking classes and appliance demonstrations, providing opportunities to learn more about products and techniques.
  • Specialty Items: I discovered a nice selection of specialty oils and vinegars.

Why You Might Consider Alternatives

  • Inconsistent Customer Service: Be aware that the level of customer service can vary drastically depending on the employee and department. While some staff members are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, others have been reported as rude, dismissive, and unhelpful, even bordering on offensive.
  • Limited Warranty Coverage: While Grebe’s offers appliances with warranties (like a 10-year warranty on a Maytag washer), the coverage may be quite limited. The warranty on my commercial Maytag washer only covered two parts, not labor or other components. This was disappointing, especially after that warranty was presented as a major selling point.
  • Appliance Repair Issues: I had a significantly negative experience with a Speed Queen washer. While the staff initially assured me there was no issue, the appliance failed to clean clothes properly. Grebe’s didn’t take responsibility, stating it was too long after purchase for return, despite the issue emerging shortly after purchase. The washer’s performance was later confirmed by my husband to be truly unsatisfactory.
  • Service Department Delays & Concerns: I took my commercial lawn mower for a belt replacement, and experienced delays. The work wasn’t completed correctly, and I was charged $83 for uncompleted work. The lack of care shown towards a commercial client is concerning.
  • Parts Availability Concerns (for some items): Finding parts for older equipment can be difficult. While they managed to find my Cub Cadet part, other customers had difficulty locating even simple parts for their older Murray mower.
