Lowe’s Shopping Guide: An Informed Visitor’s Perspective

Why You Should Visit

  • Helpful and Friendly Staff: You’ll consistently encounter helpful employees across various departments. I’ve personally experienced excellent assistance in paint, lawn and garden (William, the supervisor, was particularly helpful with wheelbarrows), and storm doors (Carl provided exceptional service). Associates often go above and beyond, even walking you to the item you need.
  • Wide Product Selection: The store carries a diverse range of products, from fruit trees and lumber to lawn mowers, refrigerators, and storm doors. They also have a good selection of trim pieces.
  • Competitive Pricing and Discounts: I’ve found the prices to be great, and they offer an effective military discount. In one instance, I even received a discount on a damaged refrigerator.
  • Clean and Organized Store: The Lawnside, NJ location, in particular, is exceptionally clean and well-organized, making shopping a pleasant experience. Multiple entrances are also convenient.
  • Customer-Friendly Return Policy: While I haven’t needed to use it often, I know their return policy is designed to be customer-friendly.
  • In-Store Events: They host kids’ workshops, which are reported to be amazing.
  • Convenient In-Store Pickup One location offered next day pick up which is convenient.

Why You Might Consider Alternatives

  • Online Ordering Issues: Be aware that online orders can be problematic. There’s a significant risk of items being omitted from your order, and resolving such issues can be a lengthy and frustrating process. Refunds might not include shipping costs.
  • Inconsistent In-Store Procedures: The handling of payments, especially with larger orders, can be confusing. In one instance, I experienced unexpected additional charges when picking up a second item from a large order, and the explanation for this was unsatisfactory.
  • Potential for Damaged Merchandise: I found a damaged refrigerator during an in-store pick up for an online order. While the store manager resolved the issue in this case, it’s a risk to be mindful of, especially for large appliances.
  • Lack of System Integration: The store staff may not be well-equipped to look up customers without their Lowe’s card present.
  • Delivery Delays and Double Charges: When ordering appliances for delivery, there is potential for significant delays and even double charges, with no clear explanation from the company.
