Home Depot Benton, AR: A Shopper’s Guide
Why You Should Visit
- Appliance Selection and Delivery (with caveats): You’ll find a good selection of appliances, including stoves, washers, and dryers. I recently purchased a new stove and a weed eater/blower combo. Be aware that large appliance purchases require delivery; no in-store pickup is available.
- Exceptional Delivery Personnel (some experiences): The delivery team, in certain instances, is truly outstanding. I had a fantastic experience with Will and Tramell, who delivered and set up my washer and dryer with professionalism, care, and a friendly attitude, even in a tight space.
- Tool Rental Department (with caveats): The tool rental department offers equipment like chainsaws (Echo brand). While some rental experiences have been frustrating due to equipment issues (dead batteries), the store manager, Lee Motes, showed an excellent commitment to customer satisfaction and problem resolution in my case. I received a rental at no cost because of issues with a chainsaw. Be aware that battery life of the rental tools is not guaranteed.
- Helpful Employees (Inconsistent): While some employees are tired and disinterested, I’ve found that newer staff members often demonstrate a willingness to help.
- Convenient Online Ordering and In-Store Pickup: Online ordering is available, and I had a great experience confirming the order setup in-store. The customer service representative was efficient and helpful.
- Good Plant Selection: Offers a lovely selection of plants.
- Essential Home Improvement Supplies: Carries basic necessities for smaller projects.
Why You Might Consider Alternatives
- Inventory Issues: The store frequently lacks sufficient quantities of various items, including light fixtures, doors, lumber, flooring, and blinds, as well as small items like plug-in covers.
- Inconsistent Customer Service: While some employees provide excellent service, others demonstrate disinterest and a lack of helpfulness. I witnessed employees being disrespectful and unhelpful to elderly customers loading lumber. I also had a negative experience with a cashier who was unhelpful when a card reader malfunctioned.
- Delivery Service Reliability Issues: Significant delays and communication breakdowns have occurred during the delivery process for large items like riding lawnmowers. In one instance, a delivery was delayed multiple times due to the driver’s inability to operate the forklift and the mower being left at the store. Another customer reported their order arrived two stops away, then the delivery failed and wasn’t rescheduled for multiple days.
- Damaged Merchandise: I found a used riding lawnmower for sale with visible damage and signs of significant wear and tear that was incorrectly described as a floor model.
- Unsecured Shopping Carts: Loose shopping carts can damage parked cars; the store reportedly takes no responsibility for this.
- Faulty Payment Systems: The store’s card readers have frequently malfunctioned; this caused significant delays at checkout. Also there is an instance where a QR code for employee notification for an item resulted in a $60 charge to a customer’s account.
- Phone Service Issues: I experienced call disconnection when trying to inquire about lawnmower blades.
