Lowe’s Seekonk, MA: A Shopper’s Perspective
Why You Should Visit
- Quick In-and-Out for Specific Items: I found the appliance section efficient. I needed a specific washing machine model and was in and out within 20 minutes. The store was clean and well-organized.
- Helpful Staff (Sometimes): I had an excellent experience with an employee named Rick in the building materials department. He was incredibly knowledgeable and readily assisted with finding bathroom building parts. Another employee, Josh, went above and beyond by proactively offering assistance loading mulch into my car, without being asked.
- Wide Selection: The store boasts a nice selection of tools and materials, as well as appliances (refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines).
- One-Stop Shop for Contractors (Possibly): At least one plastering company uses Lowe’s exclusively for their materials.
Why You Might Consider Alternatives
- Inconsistent Customer Service: Be aware that customer service can be incredibly unreliable and even rude. I experienced multiple instances of unhelpful, dismissive, and even downright hostile interactions with employees, particularly in customer service and during attempts to resolve appliance delivery and warranty issues. Multiple reviews highlight difficulties in contacting Lowe’s after purchasing an appliance and also mention employees hanging up the phone.
- Delivery and Warranty Issues: The delivery process appears problematic. A tractor delivery was missed despite confirmation, resulting in a wasted day off. Refrigerator delivery followed by a significant malfunction proved difficult to resolve, and the warranty claim process was unnecessarily complicated and slow. A riding mower also experienced a significant mechanical failure requiring difficult warranty work. There are also reports of missing parts upon delivery of items.
- Financing Traps: Be wary of financing options. One shopper described a deceptive “deferred interest” offer that resulted in a large unexpected balloon payment. Lowe’s was unresponsive to complaints about this.
- Shipping Department Challenges: The shipping and receiving department has hours that are not reliably adhered to. There’s a report of drivers being turned away minutes before closing.
- Countertop Ordering Difficulties: The process of ordering custom countertops can be a major headache. A subcontractor’s policy prevented installation, and Lowe’s was unhelpful during cancellation and even charged a seemingly unjustified fee. This cancellation resulted in a $120 charge that had to be disputed with a credit card company.
- Pickup Order Issues: Order fulfillment for pickup can be extremely slow and inefficient. One customer waited several hours with no updates.
