Lowe’s Lake Ozark: A Shopper’s Guide
Why You Should Visit
- Extensive Selection of Plants: You’ll find a huge supply of spring flowers and vegetable plants. I spotted some myself and they looked great.
- Helpful Staff (Occasionally): I encountered some incredibly knowledgeable and helpful staff members in the rug department. They went above and beyond to assist with a purchase, even offering a discount with store credit. Three staff members provided this service.
- Convenient Amenities: The store boasts dedicated veterans’ parking and a plentiful supply of handicap chairs, making access easier than at other similar stores like Menards.
- Quick Order Fulfillment: On one occasion, my order was ready quickly, and the clerk was friendly and efficient in processing additional items.
- Convenient Returns (Sometimes): The return process can be smooth and efficient. I had a positive experience returning a defective heated jacket, with the service desk associate providing excellent assistance and a full refund.
- Competitive Pricing (Sometimes): I saw dog kennels priced at $149.00; though later the price was mysteriously changed.
- Area Rugs are available in a large selection, though the colors and styles may not suit all tastes.
Why You Might Consider Alternatives
- Erratic Customer Service: Be aware that customer service is inconsistent. While some associates are incredibly helpful, many others seem disengaged, unhelpful, or even rude. Examples include cashiers who provide minimal assistance with bagging or loading, associates who are preoccupied with their phones instead of assisting customers, and staff who ignore requests for help or let out sighs when asked for assistance.
- Delivery and Installation Issues: The delivery and installation services have a significant track record of problems. Expect potential delays, cancellations, incorrect deliveries, and installation failures. Appliances were delivered and installed incorrectly, and appointments for ceiling fans were canceled or significantly delayed. Carpet installations had holes and thresholds coming up shortly after installation, with significant difficulty resolving the issue.
- Pricing Discrepancies: Carefully check your receipts, as pricing errors and overcharging seem to occur frequently. Cash transactions appear to offer little recourse if errors are found after leaving the store. One incident involved a cashier mistakenly charging four times the price of an item.
- Poor Receiving Practices (for deliveries): The receiving area appears disorganized and inefficient, creating significant delays for delivery drivers. The staff is reported to be rude and unprofessional.
- Inconsistent Pricing: Price tags may not reflect the actual price of items, particularly after a period of time. One incident involved a price tag remaining the same even after a price increase.
