The plumbing department, for instance, boasts incredibly helpful and knowledgeable individuals like Jim and Joanne, who are known for their expertise and calming demeanor. In the appliance department, Stephen G. provides above-and-beyond service. Delivery teams, like Zack and Sebastian, have also been praised for their careful handling and helpful instructions.
  • Extensive Product Selection: This location offers a wide variety of products, from plumbing supplies and appliances to painting supplies, garden items, and building materials. They even carry items like fireplace tools and have a good selection of plants. It’s a one-stop shop for many home improvement projects, even extensive renovations (we successfully purchased materials for a complete bedroom renovation here).
  • Convenient Online Order Pickup: The online order pickup lockers are accessible and readily available, making it easy to grab items ordered online.
  • Pro-Member Benefits (with caveats): If you are a Pro member, you’ll generally find excellent service with most staff. However, be aware of potential issues (see ‘Why You Might Consider Alternatives’).

Why You Might Consider Alternatives

  • Damaged Merchandise and Inventory Issues: Be aware that a significant portion of products on the shelves may be damaged. I’ve personally experienced this on multiple occasions (cracked toilet, bent ladder). Additionally, the store layout can be problematic. The main aisle can be obstructed by pallets, causing congestion and making navigation difficult. Returns are processed at an understaffed service desk with limited space.
  • Significant Wait Times for Assistance: Finding help can be a significant challenge. Expect substantial waits for assistance from staff, even when the store isn’t busy. In one instance, obtaining help with an item on a high shelf took over an hour and 20 minutes. Staff members may avoid eye contact and there’s a lack of communication between departments.
  • Inconsistent Staff Performance: While some departments have exceptionally helpful staff, others are less responsive. There have been reports of employees avoiding customers or being unhelpful. One instance involved an employee at the service desk simply telling a shopper to wait in a specific aisle, with no further assistance provided.
  • Inadequate Warranty Service: The warranty service on appliances appears problematic, with difficulties getting assistance on issues and a tendency to shift blame. Missing parts on expensive equipment are also a concern.
  • Inappropriate Staff Conduct: Reports indicate inappropriate behavior from at least one employee at the Pro desk. The employee was handing out their phone number to customers.
  • Delivery Issues: Delivery services can be unreliable. Damage to property during delivery and a lack of communication about order status are potential issues.
